Broken down due to a flat tire, stranded roadside during a snow storm, out of gas with no cash, these are just a few of the things that can happen to you when you’re behind the wheel. Prepare yourself and your passengers for every journey by keeping up with these five essential items to keep in your car!

Tire Sealant

Some people may think tire puncture sealant is a joke but you never know when you may need it to tie you over until you can have your tire serviced! The last thing you want is to be on the road during a long journey and see that “Tire Maintenance” light come on. Keeping some tire sealant in your vehicle at all time is a great way to hurry with a quick fix so you can get back on your way!

Cash

It is a good idea to keep just a bit of cash hidden away in your vehicle somewhere. No one likes that feeling of opening their wallet and having no money. Keeping a $10 or $20 in your vehicle is a great way to stay prepared for emergencies. It is best not to leave cash in plain sight as this can promote break-ins.

Flash Light

Keeping a battery-operated flashlight in your vehicle is a good idea for a number of reasons. It may seem silly, especially since modern technology allows cell phones to have pretty powerful built-in lights.  It is better to use a battery-operated flashlight rather than the one on your cell phone because you need to preserve your cell phone’s battery so you can make emergency calls.

Snacks

If you happen to get stranded roadside for a prolonged amount of time, you may get hungry. Keep some non-perishable foods in your vehicle just in case! Grab some miniature packages of crackers or cookies. It is also a good idea to keep some small water bottles in your car as well. Remember, chocolate or gummies will melt.

First-Aid Kit

Keep a small first aid kit handy and readily available in your vehicle. Inside make sure there are bandages, Band-Aids, antiseptic wipes, anti-itch cream, and whatever else you can think of needing. You never know when you will meet someone who needs your help, or if you yourself will need the contents of a first-aid kit. Stay ahead of the game by preparing your car and yourself for all sorts of emergencies by loading up with  these car essentials!
