How To Use Chevy Climate Controls

Summertime is here, which means you’re probably blasting the AC in your car every time you drive. If you’ve ever found yourself confused by all of the buttons and functions of your Chevy’s climate control, this is the guide for you! We’ll teach you how to master your climate control system to stay cool all summer long.

What is Automatic Climate Control?

Maybe you’ve seen the button in your car and heard us sing the praises of automatic climate control, but what does it actually do? Auto climate control manages the air delivery, fan speed, air conditioning, and recirculation to cool (or heat) your car to your preferred temperature. When this feature is on, you won’t have to worry about fidgeting with the climate controls while you’re driving.

To use automatic climate control, set your desired temperature when you turn on the car. After letting the system run for a few minutes to stabilize, press the AUTO button. Though you can’t control the fan speed or which vents are used in AUTO mode, you can adjust the temperature up and down to stay comfortable.

Dual-Zone Climate Control

For the times that you’re driving alone or with a front passenger who agrees on your preferred temperature, you can use the dual-zone climate control mode to link your temperature with theirs. Simply press the Synch button in your climate control settings and decide what temperature you’ll use. If your passenger adjusts their temperature when Synch is on, it will automatically turn off the Sync feature.

Some Chevy vehicles are also equipped with rear climate control systems that allow your backseat passengers to set their own temperatures separate from the front seats. If equipped, you can also lock out this feature and control the temperature yourself from the front seat.

Climate Control Sensors

Some Chevrolet vehicles are equipped with sensors that help regulate the climate control system. These sensors include a solar sensor and an auto-defog sensor. The solar sensor takes stock of the heat outside to adjust the climate control adequately with the heat level outside while the auto defog sensor detects humidity levels and turns on the defogger automatically.
